Children are amazing little creatures. Or rather amazing little creations. With their minds like little sponges and personality to boot, your life as you know it undoubtedly changes. My husband and I are currently in a bit of a pickle. We are trying to decide where we want to live in order for our children to have a good education. Right now, the area we live in is really a poor place to be. The elementary school we are zoned for failed their FCAT (standard achievement test). That in itself is enough for me to make the decision that I do not want my kids attending that particular school.
So that leaves us the question, what are we going to do? To be honest with you, we have several choices. The one that we are starting to gravitate towards is my husband taking the kids up north to where they have some of the best schools in the country (oh and we have friends up there that want us to come) while I stay here to sell the house. This is a huge decision. But can you see how much power these two little creatures have and they don't even know it!! That to me is ironic.
It is funny to see how their personalities are developing. Our daughter is very much like me. She loves arts and crafts, enjoys helping me with tasks through out the house, and she wants to learn new things. Coloring is her favorite thing to do and recently she wants to know how to draw shapes and has even tolerated me showing her how to write letters. Our son, on the other hand he is a pill. He loves numbers. At the age of four he is counting to 100 with ease and he has learned his address (street address only). He is one in the same with his father because computer and video games are his passion. Thankfully my parents were smart enough to buy an educational computer game and he absolutely loves it. He spends time every day playing it. But try to get him to sit still long enough to draw a picture or learn how to write a letter ... forget it no patience at all. This part concerns me a bit in that he will be starting school this fall. He did surprise me the other day. I told the kids of a craft project that we will be working on and he was so excited about it. So there is hope yet! HA!
